The deadline is fast approaching for local groups and organizations that are hoping to receive funding through Visit Emporia.
Each year, Visit Emporia budgets funds for a series of grants meant to benefit programs and events that bring a “positive vibe” to the Emporia community. Kelly Mayer of Visit Emporia says the funds are available for events both new and familiar to the community.
Mayer says these are “reimbursable grants” meaning applicants do not receive the funds right off the bat. She says the funds are made available following completion of the event or activity and a grant completion form.
According to Mayer, there are two deadlines each year to apply for funding with the first coming Tuesday, Feb. 1. Mayer says most funds are often applied for and granted during that application window, however, if there are funds remaining after that time, the second deadline will be Aug. 1.
Mayer says $5,000 is typically their cap on funding requests due to having a limited amount of funding budgeted each year with $500-$1,500 being the most typical amount requested.
