Both USD 251 North Lyon County and USD 252 Southern Lyon County are about a month into their second semesters, and Superintendents Bob Blair and Mike Argabright, respectively, say they are pleased with their academic years to date despite the ongoing presence of COVID-19.
In separate interviews on KVOE’s Morning Show recently, both Blair and Argabright gave updates on their operations. Blair says “students are learning and things are happening.” He also credited staff for stepping up as needed during the pandemic.
Argabright says the first semester and early part of the second semester have gone well academically.
Argabright says the main challenge has been in having enough staff to provide education and related services to students. He also says building changes early in the pandemic to airflow and cleaning methods seem to have helped avert major COVID issues.
Off the COVID-19 topic, Blair says he’s encouraged by the process fully underway to start a new preschool at 558 Broadway near North Lyon County Elementary. Construction has started and paint schemes are in the decision process. That building should be ready for students at the start of the fall 2022 semester.
Meanwhile, Argabright says the district is looking to replace some lockers in Olpe that date back to the 1950s.
