Haven’t gotten vaccinated against coronavirus but would like a shot? Healthier Lyon County has an opportunity for you this week.
A free clinic is set for the Emporia Main Street incubator space at 729 Commercial from 2-8 pm Friday, with help from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and UnitedHealthcare. Healthier Lyon County event organizer Jackie Miller says this offers a chance for residents to get vaccinated outside of normal clinic hours.
Moderna and Pfizer shots will be offered. Adults can get primary, secondary or booster doses at the clinic, and pediatric doses for kids will also be on hand. Appointments are preferred by calling 620-208-3218, but walk-ins won’t be turned away.
Certain plans for COVID testing on Wednesday were derailed by the weather. Weather and travel conditions forced Lyon County Public Health and WellHealth to close their sites for free COVID tests. The Public Health test line is open Thursday, but the WellHealth test line will stay closed due to the cold temperatures and driving conditions.
