It was not a good night at Topeka High for the Emporia High basketball teams Friday night.
The Emporia High girls were defeated by Topeka High 65-36. Lady Spartan Coach Carolyn Dorsey called it disappointing night.
The Emporia High girls were led in scoring by Gracie Gilpin with 22 points.
The Emporia High boys were outscored by Topeka High 70-59 in the game for the Dean Smith Trophy. The game was tied at halftime before Topeka High took control of the game. Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said it came to not being able to grab rebounds.
Parker Leeds led Emporia High in scoring with 21 points. Sheldon Stewart added 12 points.
The Emporia High girls and boys are off until Friday when they host Manhattan.
