It was a good night in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for the Emporia State basketball teams Thursday night.
The Emporia State women closed out the game on an 8-2 run for a 72-69 win over Northeastern State.
The game featured 18 lead changes. Emporia State took the lead for good with 16 seconds to play after trailing by 5 points in the 4th quarter.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn liked the poise they played with down the stretch.
Ehlaina Hartman led the way with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Tre’Zure Jobe added 17 points and Kali Martin finished with 13 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 11-9 for the season and 6-8 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State men jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never trailed on the way to a 79-65 win over Northeastern State.
Coach Craig Doty called it a solid road win.
Tray Buchanan led the way with a game high 32 points. Jumah’Ri Turner added 21 points and Kaden Evans finished with 15 points, making 5 of 9 three point attempts.
With the win the Hornets improve to 16-5 for the season and 11-4 in the MIAA.
The Emporia State women and men play at Rogers State Saturday afternoon.
