A small grass fire outside Emporia was handled quickly Friday afternoon.
Emporia Fire and its rural unit, District 4, were called to the 1800 block of Road F after a controlled burn went out of control and burned a nearby fence. The fire was near a tree line and burned less than an acre before it was put out.
Americus Fire was also paged to the scene as mutual aid but was canceled as it arrived.
No injuries were reported.

Emporia Fire handled a small grass fire just west of town Friday.
Emporia Fire, Lyon County District 4 and Americus Fire were toned out to the 1800 block of Road F just before 2 pm after a fire developed near a tree line.
