Electrical issues caused small fires and prompted responses by Emporia Fire late Friday and early Saturday.
Emporia Fire was called to a trailer at 2742 Regency just after 11:30 pm after a reported structure fire. Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says there was light smoke coming from an electrical outlet and damage was contained to that immediate area. It took less than 30 minutes for crews to handle that call.
Firefighters then responded to 2953 West 24th Apt. 5 shortly before 3 am Saturday after a reported fire alarm. Fuller says there was an electrical odor inside, so the call was upgraded to a structure fire. A breaker involving lights in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom had tripped, and firefighters found a ceiling fan’s electrical box had notable heat damage.
The apartment complex was briefly evacuated before firefighters left the scene shortly after 4 am.
No injuries were reported with either incident.
