There are isolated refreezing spots across Emporia and some intersections are slick, but travel conditions are close to normal after 5 inches of snowfall Wednesday.
Arterial streets are largely clear except for downtown, where morning travel is more seasonal — meaning isolated to widely scattered snow and ice. Residential collectors are clear to seasonal, and even side streets have totally clear patches that developed Friday after high temperatures got to 32 degrees with full sunshine through the day.
Lyon County’s paved and gravel road network was reopened by early Friday.
More melting is expected Saturday with highs in the low 40s. Save for snowpile areas in different parking lots, the snowpack could well disappear altogether by Sunday afternoon with high temperatures in the mid-40s.
