The Emporia High girls wrestling team finished in 2nd place at the Centennial League tournament Saturday. Washburn Rural won the team title.
Emporia High had 2 individual champions, Evelin Geronimo at 109 pounds and Madelynn Griffin at 126 pounds. Madelynn also earned her 100th career win. Emporia High also had 5 second-place finishes: Ariana Estrada at 101 pounds, Azia Obregon at 115 pounds, Virginia Munoz at 136 pounds, and Mia Rodriguez-Esparza at 170 pounds. Three Lady Spartans finished in 3rd place: Brianca Partridge at 132 pounds, Adriana Hernandez at 143 pounds, and Kiana Flores Delgado.
Up next for the Emporia High girls will be regionals to be held on Saturday hosted by Washburn Rural.
The Emporia High boys finished in 3rd place behind Washburn Rural and Manhattan at the boys Centennial League tournament.
Xerarch Tungjaroenkul at 145 was the lone individual champion. The Spartans had 4 second-place finishers: Craxton Malone at 106 pounds, Lukas Hainline at 126 pounds, Christian Trujillo at 170 pounds, and Davian White at 182 pounds. Three Spartans finished in 3rd place: Logan Anderson at 120 pounds, Brayden Criger at 152 pounds, and Bobby Trujillo at 195 pounds.
The Emporia High boys are scheduled to host Chase County in a duel Tuesday.
