Emporia State University is already in the process of finding a permanent president. Now, following the resignation of George Arasimowicz, it needs a new provost as well.
Spokesperson Gwen Larson offered limited details to KVOE News on Friday.
Arasimowicz came to Emporia State after serving as Central State University’s dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. He was one of four finalists named to replace Cordle and had served briefly as acting president immediately after Allison Garrett resigned to become Oklahoma’s chancellor and chief executive officer of its state higher education system.
Last month, Interim President Ken Hush announced Arasimowicz was “away from campus” and elevated Gary Wyatt, the associate provost and dean of the Honors College, to interim provost and vice president of academic affairs. Hush will appoint a search committee for a new provost. The timeline for that is being developed.
