Significant fire danger is in place for parts of the KVOE listening area — and elevated fire danger is in place for the rest of it.
The Chase, Osage and Wabaunsee County sheriff’s departments have announced separate countywide burn bans for Friday. The Chase County ban is until further notice. Wabaunsee County’s ban will be reviewed Friday evening, while Osage County’s burn ban will be reviewed Saturday morning.
High temperatures will be in the mid-50s Friday. Northwest winds will be at or above 30 mph all day, combining with dry grasses to keep the fire danger at very high levels through the day. Fire danger could also be elevated through the weekend despite high temperatures in the 30s.
