Emporia Main Street set the table for an active year — or several years — of development with its Public Improvement Auction at the Granada Theatre on Friday night.
The auction has a history of bolstering Main Street’s economic efforts, including the Community-Initiated Development Plan, historic downtown district, Start Your Own Business course, artwork and building upgrades. This year, with COVID-19 still affecting the economy, Director Casey Woods says the Main Street Board of Directors wants to look beyond the pandemic.
Lance Fullerton handled the official duties for the dessert and live auctions as the event was sold out. Woods also thanked Main Street Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz for the programming, which included Dueling Pianos through Hi-Fi Productions.
The auction grossed over $20,000. Net proceeds are currently pending.
