One of six defendants in the 2017 murder of Jesus Avila made an appearance in Lyon County District Court Monday morning.
Alan Alanis appeared late Monday morning for a status hearing ahead of a motions hearing on Wednesday, Mar. 3. Alanis is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, arson and other counts in Avila’s death.
Thus far, four of the six defendants in the case, all of whom were teenagers at the time of the crime, have been certified as adults. The sixth, and most recently charged defendant, Samuel Garcia has a hearing Feb. 22 to have him also certified as an adult.
