An Emporia man has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
Emporia Police Captain Lisa Hayes says Emporia Police received a report of possible animal cruelty in the 1100 block of Sylvan Street around 11 pm Sunday. An unidentified source reported hearing the sound of a dog being injured and claimed to witness a suspect placing a dog in a dumpster.
Hayes reports that officers did locate a deceased dog upon arrival and found probable cause to arrest 32-year-old Alan M. Johnson of Emporia on charges of animal cruelty. The investigation is ongoing through EPD.
