Two Emporia State athletes have been recognized by the MIAA with weekly honors.
Emporia States Tray Buchanan has been named the MIAA men’s basketball player of the Week. It is the second straight week and 6th time this season he has been named the MIAA Mens Basketball Player of the Week. Buchanan averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game as Emporia State went 2-0 with wins over Northwest Missouri State and Lincoln.
Braden Meeks has been named the MIAA baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Meek did not allow a run in two appearances last week. He allowed just one hit in 3 innings of relief during the Hornets’ 5-0 loss to the ThunderWolves in game one of the series.
He was credited with the win in the 14-3 series finale. He came in with two outs and the tying run at the plate in the third inning and got a strikeout to end the threat. He would give up just one hit in 1.1 innings of work.
