Nearly a month after a series of small grass fires were determined as arson, investigators with the Lyon and Chase county sheriff’s offices are still looking for leads.
Four grass fires were reported near Cottonwood Falls and Strong City on Jan. 18, followed by six more near Emporia shortly afterward. Little damage was reported. The fires were determined as arson early in the investigative process as the sheriff’s offices worked with the Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal.
Currently, there are no confirmed links between the fires in each county. No suspect information has been announced.
