Madison picked up back-to-back wins in the battle of the Bulldogs on the area game of the week Tuesday night.
The Madison Lady Bulldogs managed to come out on top of Chase County 43-33 in a game of runs.
Madison opened the game with an 8-0 to build an early lead they would never give up and took a 14-3 lead into the quarter break. In the second quarter, Chase County would use a 9-0 run to come within two points to tie the game.
Madison would take a 19-12 lead into halftime and stretched it to as many as 13 at one time in the second half. Chase County came as close as 5 to tie the game in the fourth but some costly turnovers helped seal the win for Madison.
Madison was led in scoring by junior Sara Miser with 18 points all from beyond the arch. Yolaine Luthi added 11 points.
Head coach Vanessa Kresin says her team has to carry this momentum forward with the post-season quickly approaching.
Chase County was led in scoring by senior Ainsley Grant with 14 points. With the win, Madison improves to 11-6 on the season while Chase County falls to 7-11.
In the boy’s game, Madison jumped out to an early lead and never trailed on their way to a 51-34 win over Chase County.
After ending the first quarter with a five-point lead Madison would use a 6-0 run in the second to build a double-digit lead and head into the halftime locker room up 24-13. Chase County didn’t go away quietly outscoring Madison 15-14 in the third quarter, however, a 13-6 fourth quarter would see Madison clinch their 14th win of the year.
Madison was led in scoring by senior Drew Stutseman with 25 points. With the win, Madison improves to 14-3 on the season while Chase County falls 8-10.
