No transports were needed following a single-vehicle accident in south Emporia Wednesday night.
Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies and Emporia/Lyon County EMS were called to the intersection of Prairie Street and South Ave. just before 8:30 pm for a reported injury accident. According to Lyon County Sgt. Zack Schafer a vehicle driven by a currently unidentified 85-year-old male was southbound on South Ave. preparing to turn onto Prairie Street.
For unknown reasons the driver lost control and collided with a light pole at the intersection. The driver was treated at the scene and declined transport to the hospital.
Evergy responded to the scene and reports the light pole suffered minor damage but was still operational following the collision. Additional details are currently pending.
