Two Iowa residents were hurt and hospitalized after a crash on the Kansas Turnpike in Osage County on Thursday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Sierra Jacobson was driving an SUV southbound and was slightly below the posted speed limit when she lost control of her vehicle about 36 miles northeast of Emporia shortly before 3:45 pm. The SUV hit the center barrier wall, spun once and went into a ditch.
Jacobson and a passenger, 18-year-old Ashley Whited, also of Woodbine, were both taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for suspected minor injuries. Two other passengers, both children under age 10, were not hurt. All four were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Highway Patrol has not said if weather-related travel conditions played a role in the crash.
