The Emporia State womens basketball team picked up a much needed win over Missouri Western Saturday. The Lady Hornets outscored Western 84-67. The Emporia State women never trailed in the game and led by as many as 19 in the 4th quarter. The Lady Hornets outscored Western 33-12 from the 3 point line and 14-10 on second-chance baskets.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn gave credit to the players.
Tre’Zure Jobe powered the offense with 22 points.
Ehlaina Hartman added 19 points. Victoria Price finished with 16 points and Karsen Schultz scored 13 points.
Missouri Western won the mens game 80-75. There were 15 lead changes in the game along with 5 ties. Western took the lead for good with 1:42 to play after technical was assessed to Emporia State. Western outscored the Hornets 8-2 the rest of the way. Emporia State Coach Craig Doty said there was one big difference.
Jamah’Ri Turner scored a game-high 29 points to lead Emporia State in scoring. Tray Buchanan added 16 points and Brenden Van Dyke finished with 13 points.
The Emporia State women are now 13-12 for the season and 8-11 in the MIAA. The Emporia State men are 18-7 for the season and 13-6 in the MIAA.
Both teams play at Northwest Missouri State Monday night.
