With declining enrollments across Kansas, the Board of Regents will begin what it calls a system-wide review of academic programs and resources.
Board Chair Cheryl Harrison-Lee says the drop in enrollments is caused by an overall drop in the “college going” rate, and it’s a priority of the board to reverse the trend as a way to help the state economy thrive. She also says the review is a good first step as a way to improve programs and best meet the needs of residents.
The Regents say the review will use “extensive” data to analyze program offerings at state universities, including how they mesh with university missions and also different needs at the local, regional and statewide levels. A formal timetable for the study hasn’t been announced.
