After a snowfall, you may well be cautioned to watch for slick spots at intersections, in parking lots and on elevated surfaces. The same holds true for underpasses.
Emporia Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at the State Street underpass shortly after 2 pm Saturday. Officer Jaffar Agha says an SUV driver was southbound and hit a patch of ice. The SUV skidded into one of the center bridge pillars.
The vehicle had heavy front-end damage, but the pillar was apparently unaffected. The SUV’s driver, currently unnamed, was not hurt.
Southbound traffic through the underpass was redirected for about an hour after the crash.
