Extensive road work is coming to a portion of the KVOE listening area next week.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that resurfacing work will be taking place on a 16-mile stretch of Interstate 35 encompassing a portion of Osage County in the KVOE listening area. The work will begin at mile marker 163, three miles east of the Melvern exit, and conclude at mile marker 179, three miles south of Eisenhower Road in Ottawa.
The project will include new asphalt, waterproofing and the placement of a one-inch reflective crack interface layer on top of the existing roadway. Intermittent lane closures will occur during daylight hours throughout the project’s duration.
The total cost of the project is $20.1 million and is being handled by Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to conclude in October.
