A Cedar Point man who pleaded no contest to attempted child sexual exploitation was sentenced to probation with an underlying prison term Tuesday.
Leland Taylor, 72, received 24 months probation with an underlying 12-month prison term. He also has lifetime postrelease supervision and must register as a sexual offender.
Taylor was originally charged with child sex exploitation after authorities reported finding a flash drive with around 150 pornographic images of children ranging in age from four months to 15 years old. He reached a plea agreement several weeks ago.
Tuesday’s sentence involved presumptive probation, based on documents proved by Chase County District Court. The underlying prison term was based on a criminal history category of I, meaning one misdemeanor or no criminal record, combined with a severity level 7 on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being most severe without going “off-grid.”
