For years, the Emporia Rescue Mission benefited from the Feinstein Challenge, a dollar-for-dollar matching fundraiser through the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation. With Feinstein now 91 years old and no longer able to contribute, a new fundraiser has developed.
Rescue Mission Director Lee Alderman has announced the Emporia Anti-Hunger Challenge. He says an unnamed local donor has agreed to match donations up to $30,000, which could bring the Rescue Mission and Abundant Harvest up to $60,000 — the traditional baseline to fund operations as generated by the Feinstein Challenge.
To donate, go online to the Emporia Community Foundation’s website, www.emporiacf.org, and select Abundant Harvest as the recipient or send checks to Abundant Harvest, Box 901 in Emporia.
Alderman will have more information on the Emporia Anti-Hunger Challenge on Monday’s Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am.
