Expect fun and frivolity, mirth and merriment if you’re attending the annual St. Patrick’s Committee auction at Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill on Friday night.
Friday’s festivities start with a silent auction at 6 pm before the live auction at 7. On KVOE’s Talk of Emporia this week, organizers Trey Sommers and Barb Lowery mentioned the committee’s evolving approach for the number of groups it supports every year.
This year’s list of beneficiaries includes:
*ESU Special Education Event Planning Committee
*Shiloh Home of Hope
*North Lyon County Veterans Memorial
*What’s in Outdoors
*USD 252 Early Childhood Program
*Hetlinger Developmental Services
*Didde Catholic Campus Center
*USD 253 Transitions
*Buffy Animal Welfare Group
*Hartford Veterans Appreciation Committee
*Forever Home Pet Rescue
*Camp Hope
*St. Patrick’s Committee scholarship program at Flint Hills Technical College
Regardless of how many groups are listed, the committee has constantly focused its fundraising towards groups and organizations that benefit families, children, veterans and residents with special needs.
Additional activities are planned March 19, including a parade, virtual Leprechaun Dash, art event through the Emporia Arts Center and other activities. More information is available on the Emporia St. Patrick’s Day Committee Facebook page.
