8:45 am Thursday: Local road crews monitoring, spot-treating with light snowfall underway
Light snowfall is underway across the KVOE listening area.
The snow is light and fluffy, meaning it is blowing off exposed county roads and some major streets. Emporia Public Works tells KVOE News it will spot-treat certain intersections and trouble spots as needed, while Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods says his crews are monitoring the situation and will treat roads if necessary.
Up to an inch of snow is expected through Thursday. The prospect for light freezing drizzle, at least across Lyon County, has not materialized according to Public Works or the Highway Department.
