Lyon County valuation notices should be in your hands no later than Tuesday.
Valuations went out Friday, and County Appraiser Ryan Janzen encourages residents to study those notices, call his staff with questions or file an appeal if they feel the numbers are inaccurate. On KVOE’s Morning Show recently, Janzen says it shouldn’t be “a scary process.”
Meanwhile, residential property values increased an average of 9 percent from last year, up from the 6-percent increase the year before.
For commercial properties, the increase was comparable to last year.
On average, cropland was up around 4.3 percent and grass was up around 5.1 percent.
If you have questions about valuation numbers or want to appeal, call the office at 620-341-3302. You can also get more information online at www.lyoncounty.org and find County Appraiser under the Government drop-down tab. The appeal deadline is March 28.
