The Emporia State baseball team closes out their 3 game series with Northeastern State Monday afternoon. Sunday, Northeastern outscored the Hornets 12-9.
Northeastern scored 5 runs in the first inning and added 2 more in the 2nd to take a 7-0 lead.
Emporia State scored 4 runs in the 5th highlighted by a Blake Carroll 2 run home run. Noah Geekie hit a grand slam in the 7th inning to cut the deficit to 10-8.
Coach Seth Wheeler says they need to avoid those big innings.
The first pitch for the game is set for 1 pm at the Trusler Sports Complex, Glennen Field.
