Over the past weekend, KVOE News told you there are free Smoke Tools workshops coming this week for landowners planning controlled burns this upcoming season.
This comes as the Kansas Department of Health and Environment plans to active the Flint Hills Smoke Management Plan’s online smoke modeling tool Tuesday before widespread burning begins across parts of Kansas and Oklahoma. The computer models help landowners and others, including city and county administrators, plan for possible smoke direction and air quality impacts.
The Smoke Tools workshops are coming Tuesday and Wednesday via Zoom. Hours will be 8 am to 3 pm. The workshops are described as active participation, “hands-on” training sessions working through exercises involving online smoke tools.
