Since 1997, residents have been accustomed to the Flint Hills Community Health Center name and brand. Effective Tuesday, that name is being replaced.
On Tuesday’s Newsmaker 2 segment, Chief Executive Officer Renee Hively announced the organization’s new name: CareArc. Hively says this reflects the full range of medical, dental and behavioral health services provided at 420 West 15th.
The name change followed work by an internal committee and an in-house competition. It also follows discussions in place since 2019 and the Board of Directors’ approval for a new name this past November.
Hively says one of the benefits of the name change will be to end a lot of ongoing confusion about the Health Center’s relationship with Lyon County Public Health or its predecessor, the Lyon County Health Department. Public Health, which has been front and center throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, will now be referred to as Community Health and will be one of the different medical services offered by CareArc.
The new website, www.carearc.org, will also include the Public Health website information. The Public Health website has been separate from the Health Center’s website for most of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hively also says this does not change anything when it comes to funding sources like Lyon County, state government or the federal government.

Flint Hills Community Health Center is officially changing names.
On Tuesday’s Newsmaker 2 segment, Chief Executive Officer Renee Hively announced the organization’s new name: CareArc. The name change is effective immediately. Hively says this reflects the full range of medical, dental and behavioral health services provided at 420 West 15th.
The Health Center name had been in place since 1997, when it gained Federally Qualified Health Center status.
The change to CareArc’s name and branding was officially approved in November. The phone number, 620-342-4864, remains the same. The website address is www.carearc.org.
Hively says the CareArc presence will become more visible in the coming weeks and months as the CarArc headquarters are remodeled and a new dental clinic goes to the building’s garden level.
