Details are still getting finalized, but a major benefit is in the works for members of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce.
On KVOE’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna said the Chamber Board of Directors is lining up a health insurance coverage option for members.
Association health plans let smaller companies create a larger group to buy health insurance. Besides allowing more people in the pool, it lowers overall risk and offers more health options — potentially with much more competitive pricing than if the businesses had their own separate plans.
McKenna says this will be a good option for businesses who may be struggling to keep employees in part because of current health care plans.
