Central Oklahoma jumped out to an early 15 point lead and the Emporia State Lady Hornets could never recover in a 88-53 loss in the opening round of the MIAA tournament Wednesday.
The Lady Hornets struggled from the 3 point line hitting just 2 of 18 3’s in the first half. Central Oklahoma hit 5 of 11 threes. In the second quarter Emporia State was outscored 23-5. They would trail by 40 points in the 3rd quarter.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said that’s not what he expected.
Emporia State had 3 players score in double-figures, Tre’Zure Jobe and Ehlaina Hartman finished with 13 points each and Victoria Price added 10 points. Central Oklahoma was led by Kelsey Johnson with 25 points.
The Lady Hornets finish the season with a 15-14 record.
It was the final game for Kali Martin, Karsen Schultz and Fredricka Sheats.
