Before Devawn Mitchell gets sentenced later this month for the traffic death of Steve Henry last year, Mitchell will have a competency hearing Friday.
The hearing is at 8:30 am before Judge Lee Fowler. It follows Mitchell’s two-day bench trial in late January, where he was found guilty on all counts, including first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder, aggravated assault on law enforcement and felony flee and elude. Mitchell had been accused of leading local law enforcement on at least two pursuits and continuing at high speed — after a chase had been halted — before his car ran into Henry’s truck, killing him at the scene.
Sentencing is set for 9 am March 11 in Lyon County District Court.
