Road improvements are coming to both Emporia and Lebo a week from Monday.
Emporia City Clerk Kerry Sull says work the city’s contractor will soon begin improvements on Funston Street affecting 6th Ave. to 5th Ave. and 5th Ave. from Funston to Sunnyslope. The project will include pavement and drainage improvements and will see thru traffic closed at times during the project.
Work should continue into the summer, however, an exact timeline has not been announced.
Separately, the Kansas Department of Transportation is preparing to begin the second phase of a Streetscape project in Lebo. That project will include street, sidewalk and curb and gutter improvements on North Ogden and Broadway streets.
Both projects are scheduled to begin Monday, Mar. 14 with the Emporia project continuing through the summer and the Lebo project continuing into Autumn, however, exact timelines have not been released.
