The Emporia State baseball team outscored Fort Hays State 8-7 in 11 innings yesterday to take the series 2 games to 1.
The Hornets scored 4 runs in the 1st. Fort Hays would score 2 runs in the 7th and 3 runs in the 8th to take a 7-5 lead. Emporia State tied the game in the 9th on home runs by Blake Carroll and TJ Racherbaumer.
The Hornets scored the go-ahead run in the 11th on a sacrifice fly.
Noah Geekie earned the win pitching the final 3 and third innings giving up no runs on 2 hits with 5 strikeouts.
The Hornets are now 7-11 for the season and 2-5 in the MIAA.
They are scheduled to play Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday.
