As Newman Regional Health celebrates 100 years of existence, Newman CEO Bob Wright says he has spent some time looking back on the advancements and evolution of healthcare and its impacts on Newman’s service to the local community.
During a visit on KVOE’s Morning Show Monday, Wright says it is amazing to look back at where healthcare was in 1922 when there were only some minor antibiotics and surgical procedures available to serve patients. With advancements in training, techniques and equipment, Wright says the US has consistently been a world leader in medical evolution and those efforts are reflected within the walls of NRH.
Wright adds that the hospital’s capabilities far exceed the offerings of other similar-sized rural facilities across the state.
In honor of the hospital turning 100 years old, several activities and presentations are planned in the coming days with the first taking place Monday. The hospital’s volunteer organization made a $13,000 donation to Newman to fund the purchase of Staxi Wheelchairs to assist with transporting patients across the hospital.
Monday was proclaimed Newman Regional Health Day in Lyon County following a formal proclamation by county commissioners. For more information on upcoming activities to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of NRH visit NewmanRH.org.
