The Olpe Eagles have advanced to the semi-finals of the 1A Division I state tournament. Olpe used a dominating defensive effort to defeat Troy 51-21. Troy did not make a field goal in the 1st half they were 0-18 from the field.
Derek Hoelting led the Eagles with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Olpe Coach Chris Schmidt said it was more than offense for Derek.
Olpe will play Macksville in Friday’s semi-final. Macksville outscored Osborne 45-41.
The Waverly boys were outscored by Northern Valley 63-57 in overtime in the first round of the 1A Division II State tournament.
Coach Tyler Williams said they gave it their best effort.
Waverly was led by Damien Foster with a game-high 23 points. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 13-11 record.

Southeast of Saline defeated The Osage City boys 62-53 at the 3A tournament.

Topeka Seaman upset the number 1 seed Kapaun Mt. Carmel 54-43.
Maize the defending 5A Champion outscored Highland Park 53-47.
St. James Academy defeated Topeka West 59-51.
DeSoto outscored Blue Valley Southwest 50-45.
