The season came to an end for the Emporia High girls basketball team in the quarterfinals of the 5A State Tournament Thursday night. Lansing outscored the Lady Spartans 61-43 behind a big 3rd quarter. Lansing outscored Emporia High 19-8 in the 3rd quarter and 38-20 in the second half.
Emporia High led 7-6 after the 1st quarter, the game was tied at 23 at halftime.
Emporia High Coach Carolyn Dorsey said she was proud of this team.
Addie Kirmer led Emporia High in scoring with 18 points. Gracie Gilpin finished with 11 and Rebecca Snyder added 10 points.
The Emporia High girls finish the season with a 17-6 record.
In the other 5A games-
Salina Central defeated De Soto 69-34.
St. Thomas Aquinas outscored Spring Hill 48-27.
And Andover Central defeated Bishop Carroll 50-34.
Friday’s schedule begins at 2 pm with the Topeka Seaman boys playing Maize.
Followed by St. Thomas Aquinas girls playing Andover Central.
At 6 pm St James Academy boys play De Soto.
In the late game, the Salina Central girls play Lansing.
