The Olpe Eagles will be making a repeat appearance in the 1A Division I state Tournament Championship game after they defeated Macksville 68-38.
Olpe Coach Chris Schmidt said one of the keys to winning the game was containing Macksville Center Ryan Kunkelman, holding him to 1 point.
Truman Bailey led the Eagles with a game-high 19 points. Derek Hoelting added 15 points and 14 rebounds. Blake Redker finished with 11 points.
Olpe will play South Gray Saturday at 4 pm. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
The Burlingame girls will play in the 3rd place game Saturday at the 1A Division I State Tournament at Dodge City. Centralia outscored the Bearcats 53-45 in Friday night’s semi-final game. Burlingame held an 18-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Centralia went on a 17-0 run to take a lead they would not give up.
Burlingame Coach Jeff Slater said they had too many defensive breakdowns.
Kaylin Noonan scored a game-high 24 points to lead Burlingame. Daelyn Winters finished with 10 points.
Burlingame will play Hodgeman County in the 3rd place game with tipoff at 2 pm. The game will be broadcast on Country 101.7FM.
Centralia will play Pretty Prairie in the girls 1A DI State tournament championship game.
At the 2A Tournament, Hillsboro outscored Lyndon 37-28 in double overtime.
Lyndon will play Valley Falls in the 3rd place game at 2 pm Saturday.
