The Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas Board of Directors approved extending an incentive compliance agreement as part of its monthly meeting, but project details won’t be made available yet.
Board members Friday approved the extension for what is being called Project Ruby. Board chair Jamie Sauder says this is a business recruitment effort using housing as a key component.
Sauder says housing is becoming a critical component for attracting businesses, and it doesn’t matter if it’s at the local, state or national level. Other details about Project Ruby may not be announced until the business is named.
In other business, the RDA board discussed a new set of strategic planning discussions. Sauder says the board may tackle items including available opportunities and “filling voids” for business recruitment and retention. Part of the conversation will likely include developing a focus so everybody involved is pulling in the same direction. Another part of the early conversation may involve currently-unspent COVID-19 relief funds and potential uses for that money, including lead generation, marketing and website development.
