Plans for a second Amanda Rodriguez Scholarship fundraiser may be developing soon, based on the turnout from the initial event at the Del5ive Event Center on Friday.
The building was full for the event, which included drawings, door prizes, street tacos from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and music from the San Antonio, Texas band La Dezz.
Amanda’s brother and Nuestra Musica host Vic Rodriguez says establishing a scholarship in her memory was a natural way to honor her work with children, most visibly as an enrollment specialist with USD 253 Emporia Public Schools.
Amanda Rodriguez passed away in November 2020 after a battle with COVID-19. The scholarship is established at Emporia State University. Totals will likely be announced by early in the week.
Also during the event, Vic Rodriguez received his formal induction into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame Museum.
