The Emporia State softball team is scheduled to open MIAA play Saturday with a doubleheader at Central Oklahoma.
The Lady Hornets are 11-9 on the season. One of the early pleasant surprises is the pitching of Freshman Harley Sturm out of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Harley is 3-2 with a 4.36 era with a save in 2 starts and 7 appearances.
Central Oklahoma is ranked 10th in the latest National poll.
Emporia State is also scheduled to play a doubleheader at Newman on Sunday.
