The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead after an early morning house fire in Eureka Saturday.
Eureka Fire, Eureka EMS and Greenwood County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 916 N. Oak just before 3:20 am for a reported structure fire. The fire reportedly spread from the home to a second nearby structure before it was extinguished.
Both structures were considered a total loss. After the flames were extinguished a body was found inside one of the structures, however, the exact location has not been divulged.
The identity of the deceased individual is not being released at this time. The cause of the fire and the origination point are currently under investigation by the Office of the Kansas Fire Marshall.
