Jobless rates continued to trickle down across the state to begin the new calendar year.

Locally, jobless rates saw an increase across the board including in Lyon County where the unemployment rate rose from 1.7 percent in December to 2.5 percent in January. This is still an improvement from the January of 2021 where the unemployment rate sat at 3.9 percent.
For area counties, Coffey County has the highest unemployment rate at 3.1 percent while Morris County still has the lowest rate at 1.9 percent up only slightly from 1.6 percent in December.
