A significant project for new housing in south Emporia will likely see a lot of discussion Wednesday night.
The better than 50-home development as proposed for the Kretsinger Tract near South Exchange and Soden’s Road is the focus of a public hearing in front of the Emporia City Commission. The commission is considering approval of a Rural Housing Incentive District zone for the nearly 17-acre tract.
As part of KVOE’s Morning Show this week, City Manager Trey Cocking didn’t address the Kretsinger project — but he did address the city’s overall housing shortage. He says having more available housing would make it easier for businesses to expand or move to Emporia. It would also make it more attractive for some residents to both live and work here.
Other items on the agenda include the annual review of the city’s Solid Waste Management Plan, an appointment to the Convention and Visitors Advisory Board and an executive session.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at the City Commission Chambers.
