Emporia’s Staples will be closing its doors permanently in less than two months.
According to Staples Manager Dylan Thomsen, the office-supply store will officially close on May 15. Thomsen says he was informed of the closing Tuesday and says it comes after a series of inspections over the past month, however, he cannot confirm whether the closing is related to the inspections.
Additionally, Thomsen says he cannot confirm whether the building was sold or the current lease was bought out.
Thomsen says the store currently employs 10 individuals. The building which currently houses Staples was built in 1998.
The building also houses Dollar Tree in an adjacent unit. Word on how the Staples closure will affect those operations are currently pending.
