The Emporia State softball team was swept by William Jewell in a doubleheader Wednesday.
William Jewell won the first game 6-3. 3 of those runs were unearned thanks to 4 Emporia State errors. The Lady Hornes scored all 3 runs in the 5th on a bases-loaded hit batter, a sacrifice fly, and a wild pitch.
William Jewell won the 2nd game 8-7 in 8 innings.
Maddy Broxterman hit a 2 run homerun to give Emporia State a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. Lady Hornets scored a run in the 2nd on a Bailey Flewelling single. Emporia State added 3 more runs in the 4th on an Abby Ward Triple. William Jewell scored 3 runs in the 2nd, a run in the 6th, and 2 runs in the 7th to tie the game. Emporia State broke the tie with a run in the 8th on a Harley Sturm double. William Jewell would score 2 runs thanks to an error in the bottom of the 8th inning. 5 of the Willam Jewell runs were unearned thanks to 4 Emporia State errors.
The Lady Hornets will try to get back on the winning track Saturday with a doubleheader at Drury.
