The Emporia State baseball team split a doubleheader with Northwest Missouri State Saturday.
Emporia State won the first game 3-0.
Sam Chaput was 3 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Jarrett Seaton was the winning pitcher going 7 innings giving up no runs on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Northwest Missouri State won the 2nd game 7-5. They scored 5 of the runs in the 4th inning.
TJ Racherbaumer led Emporia State going 3 for 4 with 5 rbi. He singled driving in a run, hit a solo home run in the 6th inning, and added a 3 run home run in the 8th inning.
Coach Seth Wheeler said in the first game they did enough to win and in the 2nd game they did enough to lose.
The Hornets are now 9-16 for the season and 3-9 in the MIAA. Emporia State and Northwest will play a single game Sunday with the first pitch set for 1 pm.
