The Kansas State advanced to the 2nd round of the women’s NCAA Tournament with a 50-40 win over Washington State.
The Wildcats outscored Washington State 18-9 in the 3rd quarter to take a lead they would not give up.
Kansas State Coach Jeff Mitti said the defense won the game for them.
Ayoka Lee led Kansas State with her 20th double-double of the season of 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Brylee Green added 14 points.
Kansas State will play North Carolina State Monday in the 2nd round.
Sunday the Kansas women play Stanford. Stanford is a number 1 seed and the defending champion. Tipoff is set for 8 pm.
